Tips and How To's

Tip# 1 Problem: Repairing scratched panels on Avalance pick-ups.

Solution: Most scratches will disappear with the use of a heat gun. Lightly sand if needed. Prep with Triclean. To recolor, best results are obtained by using (PC) Plastic Coater/Primer with pigment and adding crosslinker. The plastic coater/primer will give a harder more durable finish then the leather/vinyl dye which needs to have more flex and a softer feel.

Tip# 2 Problem: After matching the acid dye color to the darkest stain and then dyeing the carpet, I sometimes notice the stain area looks slightly different in color.

Solution: After applying the color, spray the complete carpet with a light coat of PM-202 Brillant Silver or PM-210 Gold Metallic. The mica flake reflects the light which helps blend in the stain area.

Tip# 3 Problem: Some of the new Ford and GM dashes tend to bubble and lift the color when a solvent cleaner or color is applied.

Solution: Ford and GM are using a waterbase color on thier dashes. (1) Use the (TC) Triclean prep cleaner to clean and feather the edges(wet sand if needed). (2) Use the PC-Plastic Coater or S-3 spray grain to seal the dash. (3) Spray color.

Tip# 4 Problem: Cleaning and re-coloring unfinished leather (aniline, nubuck, suede).

Solution: Cleaning for heavey stains, cut TC Triclean prep cleaner with 50% water. Spray on heavey, scrub with soft bristle brush. Allow to dry. Recheck stains.

Application: Apply LCP leather conditioner/protector over entire area. Allow to dry. Helps the dye to coat evenly. Spray 1 to 3 coats of matched color, allowing to dry between coats. Add SL7 crosslinker to last coat. Spray a topcoat of AN clear with crosslinker to bring up the sheen, give depth to the color and improve abrasion and chemical restance. Allow dye coat to cure, and then apply ProC Protection cream.
